PhD student virus bioinformatics (w/d/m)

The TWINCORE - Center for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research is looking for new employees for the junior research group Computational Virology (Prof. Dr. Chris Lauber). Your tasks

  • Analysis of RNA and DNA high throughput sequencing data
  • Realization of genome/ exome-wide association studies
  • Assembly of viral genome sequences, comparative sequence analysis
  • Phylogeny and other evolutionary analyses
  • Creation of bioinformatics workflows / pipelines, including version management

Your requirements

  • Completed degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biotechnology, or similar
  • Experience with scripting languages ​​such as Perl, Python, R is desirable
  • Experience with version management software (e.g. Git) is an advantage
  • Interest in viruses, evolution and human genomics
  • Willingness to acquire knowledge and to break new ground
  • Knowledge of virology would be a plus, but is not absolutely necessary
