Experimental Radiology

The Hannover Medical School (MHH), with about 10.000 employees the biggest company of Lower Saxony, is a university institution for research and teaching in the human and dental medicine and a university hospital of supra-maximum medical care. Research, teaching, medical care and administration work hand in hand in the integration model at the MHH-campus.

At the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology (Director: Prof. Dr. med. Frank Wacker), research and method development hold great importance. The goal is the translation of research findings into clinical practice to improve patient care in the future. The main focus is on technical and clinical validation and feasibility studies of innovative methods in the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) as well as image post-processing, which are developed in cooperation with companies or independently. For this purpose, modern MRI systems including equipment for imaging so-called X-nuclei, CT systems, and state-of-the-art high-performance computers are available.
